WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATIONS COMMENCE ON KAMPALA–ENTEBBE EXPRESSWAY
The Ministry of Works and Transport, in collaboration with Pinnacle Security Limited, the Operator of the Kampala–Entebbe Expressway, has commenced weighbridge operations on the Expressway effective on 6th October 2026.
This follows a directive by the Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama, to strengthen vehicle load control and enforce compliance with prescribed weight and axle-load limits. The measure is intended to protect road infrastructure, enhance road safety, and reduce the risks associated with overloaded vehicles.
All vehicles weighing 3.5 tonnes and above are required to undergo weighing in accordance with the law.
Fleet operators, owners of heavy commercial vehicles and drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, follow the weighbridge signages and comply with instructions issued from authorized personnel. Road users must ensure that their vehicles are properly loaded and remain within the prescribed gross vehicle weight and axle-load limits before travelling on the Expressway. Vehicles found to be overloaded will be subject to the applicable charges and enforcement measures in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
All road users are encouraged to cooperate with weighbridge personnel and follow the required procedures to support safe and efficient operations on the Kampala–Entebbe Expressway.
